Creating a kitchen that flawlessly combines function and style is no mean feat! When your clients want that style to reflect the grand Italianate architecture of their home, it adds a touch more complexity to the task – especially when you are transforming a space so very different to the desired look!
So, this project needed lots of careful consideration (not to mention love and patience) in order to achieve the perfect balance of design and aesthetic that the client craved: a space that radiated peacefulness and elegance.
The original kitchen, with its dated, heavy cabinetry and lack of harmonised style, reflected none of the beauty and grandeur of this beautiful family home.
To transform this space while retaining the architecture of the original kitchen, the dark timber cabinetry was replaced with bespoke solid oak cabinetry and marble countertops. The specialist paint finish and glass cabinet doors brought a lightness and expansiveness to a space that previously felt confined.
Classical elements – via the tapware, door hardware, custom rangehood and bespoke cooking nook – were used to streamline the aesthetic, and to complement the baroque detailing of the rest of the home. The exquisite melon cloche pendant lamps from France, below, were the perfect decorative touch to complete the space.
The end result was a perfectly functional kitchen that was sumptuous yet clean and open and with exceptional visual appeal.
